South Bend Speedway hosts HOSS in Friday action
The Hoosier Outlaw Sprint Series comes to the South
Bend Motor Speedway June 11 for a Friday night program of winged sprint car
racing on the quarter mile. Track owner Mike Bird has again brought the
asphalt kings with wings to town for two shows in 2004, the second
date being the 16th of July. The sprint cars fly around the
speedway with qualifying laps being timed near ten seconds flat!
This weekend could see the first lap ever turned in the nine second realm
as all of the top stars in asphalt winged sprint cars will be packed into
the pits for the chance to make South Bend Motor Speedway history.
This track is known to make wheel to wheel racing
action too close for comfort and that will certainly be the case Friday
night! In the two HOSS events last year Denny England and John
Witter came home winners after giving fans awesome race action with
daring passes and dramatic dashes to the checkers. These races
are never snoozers as evidenced by England's win coming after the 1R
car of Doug Berryman spun from the lead in turn three late in the
race! John Witter's big win came as he led every lap of the feature
winning by one length over the veterans Jeff Bloom and Ron Koehler.
The pit gates open at 4pm with the spectator
gates opening 6pm. Qualifying is at 7pm and Hoosier Outlaw Sprint Series
racing at 8pm!
