Gerster takes the win and Wheeler is 07 HOSS Champ

The Hoosier Outlaw Sprint Series finale was held at Illiana Motor Speedway in Schererville, IN Saturday night.  Brian Gerster of Fishers, IN set a new track record in qualifying and Gerster took the lead from Jimmy McCune on lap 18 to bring home the feature win.  He was followed by McCune, Geoff Kaiser, Greg Wheeler, and Hank Lower to round out the top five.  Heat winners were Jerry Caryer, Tim Cox, and Ron Koehler.

The 2007 HOSS Championship was decided also, the champ is Greg Wheeler of Columbia City, IN.  Veteran driver Hank Lower of Angola, IN is runner up.  Third went to Jerry Caryer of Ney, OH.  Fourth is Ron Koehler of South Bend, IN and fifth is Tim Cox of Park City, IL.  The Championship Banquet will be held October 27th in Warsaw, IN at the Center Lake Pavilion.

The first heat race was Jerry Caryer taking the lead on the first lap, he was followed by Doug Berryman, Brian Gerster, Hank Lower, Jim Dolph, and Keith Ousley.

The second heat Chad Delegrange took the lead with Kris Leming taking over on lap 2 on lap seven Tim Cox took over and was followed to the finish by Leming, McCune, Sam Davis, Mark Hall, and Delegrange.

The third heat Ron Koehler came from fourth starting position to take the lead on the first lap followed by Wheeler, Kaiser, Ted McKibben, Teddy Alberts, and Jim Payne.

The feature event started with Kaiser and McCune on the front row.  Fast qualifier, Gerster was in sixth with the inversion.  McCune took the point on the first lap with Kaiser, Berryman, and Cox challenging him.  Gerster was patiently passing them one by one until he was able to take McCuen on lap 18.  Lap 19 the yellow, brought out by Berryman coming to rest in turn four, bunched up the field for the 11 lap dash to the finish.  Gerster was followed by McCune, Kaiser, Wheeler, Lower, Cox, Caryer, Davis, Ousley, Delegrange,  McKibben, Lutes, Berryman, Payne, Koehler, Dolph, Alberts, Leming, Hall.
