HOSS Returns to Mansfield for Friday Night Fury
The Hoosier Outlaw Sprint Series sponsored by Marathon will be in action Friday night at Mansfield Speedway. The pavement kings with wings will be joined by the ISMA supermodified on the racecard, making this a show to catch. The HOSS teams are excited about the Friday race and anxious to go racing.
Jimmy McCune won the first HOSS Mansfield race on June passing Ron Koehler to score the thrilling and popular victory. Look for more of the same as he is expected back to compete Friday night. Fast qualifier Joe Rebman has become a part-time author over the summer. The Buckeye Bandit has rewritten track record books at least three times across the country since he left Mansfield in June. His most recent efforts have included an 11.672 clocking at the innaguaral Rockford (IL) Speedway quarter mile speedway race in July and last week he became the first into the fifteens at Illiana Speedway’s half mile with a 15.928 seconds circuit. Could this be the final days for Don Townsend’s 13.56 track record at Mansfield? We’ll know for sure Friday evening!
The HOSS points battle has been shaken a bit after last week race. Greg Wheeler is still on top but a ninth place finish for the 7 car has closed the gap considerably to the pack. Ron Koehler now trails by 15 points and the Joe Rebman has vaulted into third just 48 markers behind Wheeler. Michael Tarlton remains in fourth just three behind Rebman but Doug Berryman lies four behind Tarlton. Sondi Eden is in sixth after an eighth place run at Illiana ten behind Berryman. Jerry Caryer is in seventh with 467 points, ten less than Eden. Caryer revealed recently that he will be upgrading equipment soon. The news should put the top teams on notice as Jerry has always made the most with what he has in the past. Look for the purple 75c to be on top shortly. John Witter is eighth with 452 points while Tom Paterson and Dale Wood round out the top ten.
