1) All cars must be of the open
wheel, open cockpit type; All cars must have a tubular front bumper which may
not extend more than eight (8) inches forward of the front torsion bar mounting
tube. The front part of the body, known
as the nose assembly, shall not be wider than the parallel lines of the body
and may not extend forward beyond the inner confines of the front bumper.
2) The engine, driveline and
rear axle center section must be mounted on the chassis centerline at a ninety
(90) degree angle to the chassis in a vertical position. A maximum of one (1) degree of variation will
be allowed, as measured from the crankshaft centerline. A maximum variance of
one (1) inch overall ( ½ inch offset) will be permitted. The driver may not be positioned beside or
in front of the engine and the driveline must pass between the driver’s legs. Apron or belly pan is highly recommended for
safety reasons. Cars utilizing a front
torsion bar suspension may not have the bars mounted below the horizontal
centerline of the front spindles.
3) Tubular front axles must
incorporate the spool wrap-around design in their construction. Independent suspension systems are not
allowed, front or rear,
4) Steel front spindles and
hubs are recommended. Steel or one (1)
inch aluminum torsion bar arms or stops are recommended for right front
suspension.
5) The undriven wheel rim width
is limited to a maximum of ten (10) inches.
The driven wheel rim width is limited to a maximum of eighteen (18)
inches.
6) All cars shall be rear wheel
drive only. The rear axle offset shall
be determined by measuring from the farthest portion of the wheel to the
centerline of the rear axle centerline assembly. The maximum distance allowed is forty-three
(43) inches (to rim bead). The total
overall width is seventy-eight (78) inches (Tire sidewall to tire sidewall),
front and rear. And maximum wheelbase length is ninety (90) inches.
7) HOOSIER TIRES REQUIRED ON
ALL 4 WHEELS. MANDATORY compounds: LEFT FRONT: 2010 – RIGHT FRONT: 2045 - LEFT
REAR: 2020 – RIGHT REAR: 2048 or 2053.

The right rear tire used for qualifying must be the same tire that the
car starts the feature on. Qualifying
tires do not have to be used during Heat races, Last Chance or B-Main
races. If, for some reason, your right
rear tire did not get marked before qualifying, you must use a scuffed tire for
the A-Main. Any car starting the A-Main
on a non-qualifying tire will start last.
If a tire change is required during the feature: The car will have to restart on the rear.
8) A 16” x 18” space on the
outside of both sides of top wing must be reserved for the Series sponsor’s
decals. Decals mandatory to be eligible
for Series sponsor’s contingencies.

9) Lower safety fluid
containment pan (Belly Pan) required from below radiator to motor plate
attached in a safe manner with clamps or bolted. Absorbent pad recommended.
10) Vertex-Mallory point style magnetos with internal,
or external coils will be required by July 1, 2006.
11) Electronics that provide traction control are
prohibited. The use of electronic logic
processors to control any function of the race car, and/ or any system for
continuous gathering of data from any function of the race car is strictly
prohibited.
AERODYNAMIC
DEVICES
1) Top Wing: Must be on car for
all events (competing without wing requires Management’s approval.)
a) Must have a legible car
number displayed on both sideboards and on TOP surface of wing.
b) Top area:
I.
Maximum of twenty-five square feet (5 x 5).
II.
May be no wider the five (5) feet.
III.
May not extend beyond confines of rear wheels.
IV.
May not move side to side from cockpit (no lateral movement from
cockpit).
V.
No step wings allowed.
c) Sideboards are to be no
taller than thirty (30) inches.
2) Nose Wing:
a) Top area may not be larger
than six (6) square feet.
b) Width may be no more than
thirty-six (36) inches.
c) Shall not extend beyond
front bumper.
3) Side Shields:
a) Cockpit side shields shall not
extend rearward beyond the rear roll cage upright closest to the seat. Roll cage rear uprights may not be extended
to incorporate larger sail panels. The
top of sail panel may not extend rearward beyond the centerline of the rear
axle.
b) Body panels or skin that may
be installed to protect the drivers arms are permitted on the right side only
and shall be a maximum of 38 inches high measured from the bottom of the lower
main frame tube at motor plate.
c) Sun visors are limited to 5
inches in height and not wider than the width of the cage. Sun visors must be mounted parallel to the
front upright cage tubes and cannot extend above the cage.
d) Driver must be able to enter and exit car without removing any panels.
e) No other devices allowed.
DRIVELINES
1) All driveline systems must
be completely surrounded (360) by proper tubing.
2) Metal torque tube hoop
mandatory.
ENGINES
1) Steel and aluminum blocks
allowed. Overhead cam engines
prohibited. Engine size limited to
maximum of 410 cid.
2) Penalties for an oversize
engine or refusing inspection (declared 360’s included):
a) Loss of all points for that
show.
b) Forfeiture of all earnings
for that show.
c) Second violation of season
results in ban for rest of the season.
FRAMES
1) No Aluminum frames.
FUEL
1) Alcohol only (upper valve
lubricant acceptable).
2) Penalties for use of illegal
fuel or refusing inspection:
a) Loss of all points for the
show.
b) Loss of all earnings for the
show.
c) Second violation of season
results in ban for rest of the season.
MUFFLERS
1) Mufflers are mandatory.
2) They shall have a
100-decibel limit maximum. As measured
by local authorities.
PROTEST
1) A protest fee of $250.00
must be submitted to the official before inspection. All unfounded protest money goes into point
fund.
2) The fee will be returned if
the engine is found to be illegal.
3) The protester must be
present during the inspection. No other
crews allowed during inspection.
SHOCKS
1) No shock absorbers or other
ride controlling or dampening devices that can be ADJUSTED while the racecar is
UNDER MOTION are allowed! (Top wings and brake bias adjusters excepted).
TIRES
1) YOU MUST RUN THE SAME RIGHT
REAR TIRE THAT YOU QUALIFIED WITH IN THE A-MAIN FEATURE.
WEIGHT
1) Racecars with engines larger
than 360 cid must weigh a minimum of 1600 pounds with driver, after the
race. Cars with cast block iron engines
360 cid or less must weigh 1500 pounds with driver, after the race, excludes
aluminum block engines.
2) Added weight must be bolted
to and within the confines of frame rails.
Cars will be weighed at the post race inspection immediately following
the feature event. No one in the
inspection area but driver or total disqualification.
3) The penalty for not making
weight:
a) Loss of all points for the
night.
b) Loss of all earnings for the
night.

PROGRAM PROCEDURES
1.
Under normal circumstances, all heat races will be aligned in a
staggered 6-deep inverted order with extra cars to 2- lined in order per
qualifying times.
a) Cars earning a feature
starting spot will get their qualifying times back.
b) The Race Director may alter
the above procedures.

At events where all
competitors are guaranteed a feature starting position. Heats may be run inverted going off
qualifying times. Ex: Heat 1-fast 7 Heat
2-Second 7 Heat 3-3rd 7

Cars not qualifying for the feature through heats will run the B-Main,
getting their times back, no inversions.
2.
DNQ’s will start last.
3.
Cars advancing to the feature get their times back.
4.
If a B-Main is not run, you get your qualifying time back for the
feature. All cars / drivers will get
points.
1.
Line-up determined by finish of preliminaries and qualifying time with
invert determined by the draw. Fast time
will draw the feature invert after qualifying.
In the event there is no qualifying winner of the first heat will
draw. Scratches to be filled from
B-Main.
2.
The Race Director may alter the above procedures.
1.
Pertains to all races except the feature:
a) A driver can change cars and
run the event for which the car is qualified. (Must start last.)
b) A driver and / or car will
run one heat race only.
c) A car will be qualified by
ONE driver only.
2.
Feature race, a car and a driver must have earned a starting position,
it could be a different car and driver but they both have to have earned
starting positions.
a) For a red flag they did not
cause.
b) Are stopped by an official
on the track.
c) You can stop on the track
near an official, if your seat belts come loose, or if your straps on your
helmet come loose. There will be no
penalty.
Competitors will be allowed two assisted starts per event in which they are in. Getting pushed off constitutes one assisted start.
a) The pole car (inside or
outside) picks up speed before the designated starting spot on the start.
b) A competitor jumps on any
start or restart.
1) Jumping: any part of your car even with any part of
the car in front of you before the lead cars have reached the designated
starting spot.
2) Single file restarts, cars
must be nose to tail.
3) Regaining the proper
starting position before reaching the designated starting point does not erase
the jump.
c) The penalty, when possible,
will be assessed on the next caution period, the penalty will be assessed at
the payoff.
d) Competitors should consider
that jumping is a judgment call and is not reversible. The call is made from the perspective of the
H.O.S.S. officials, not the crew.
a) Includes anyone connected
with the car.
b) Includes conduct on or off
the track.
